Most Common Treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Doctors recommend rest and night splinting as the most common treatment for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome resulting from pregnancy). The IMAK Pil-O-Splint® was rated the #1 night splint by a medical study for treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Studies have shown that resting the fingers, hand and wrist in a neutral position is the most effective way to manage pain caused by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The IMAK Pil-O-Splint is the only night splint on the market that keeps your fingers from moving while sleeping. This is important since moving your fingers (or clenching a fist) while you sleep increases the pressure inside the carpal tunnel, increasing symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Other conservative treatments involve anti-inflammatory drugs. In severe cases anti-inflammatory injections or carpal tunnel release surgery is prescribed.

Wearing rigid splints at work is most often not recommended, especially for long periods of time (more than two weeks). Rigid splints may cause muscle atrophy resulting in muscle weakness and ultimately more pain. The IMAK Smart Glove® provides the gentle support needed while allowing unrestricted movement of the hand and fingers.
